Rural Energy Development Program

SODEC ran Rural Energy Development Program from 2004 to 2012 across 9 VDCs of Sankhuwasabha District in partnership with the District Development Committee (GoN)/UNDP. The goal of the program was to reduce poverty through energy promotion in the rural areas.

During the project period 10 small hydro power projects were constructed providing electricity to 2,800 rural families. Together with the electrification, it created jobs for 650 people in the rice mills, saw mills, and other small scale enterprises.
