SDC Nepal works from Biratnagar, Morang, with a focus on vulnerable communities in eastern Nepal. Our programme priorities are shaped by local consultation, vulnerability, available resources and the ability to deliver support safely and accountably.
Humanitarian and seasonal assistance
Floods, cold weather, food insecurity and household shocks can create urgent needs. Assistance may include food, essential items, seasonal relief and referrals when an appeal is active and properly assessed.
Education and sponsorship
Potential activities include educational materials, scholarships, skills development and carefully managed support for orphans, widows, people with disabilities and maktab teachers. Selection and duration depend on verified criteria and funding.
Water, sanitation and health
Safe water, sanitation, hygiene awareness and access to basic medical support remain important community priorities. Projects require technical suitability, maintenance planning and coordination with relevant local stakeholders.
Livelihoods and community infrastructure
Skills, tools and small livelihood inputs can help households strengthen resilience. Community facilities, shelter repairs, mosques or maktabs may be considered where there is demonstrated public benefit, clear ownership and a sustainable management plan.
