Responsible community work starts before any money is spent. SDC Nepal’s programme approach is to listen to communities, identify the people most at risk, check whether a proposed activity is practical, and define how support will be delivered and reviewed.
Needs and eligibility
Programme teams should document the local problem, intended participants, selection criteria and risks. Priority is given according to vulnerability and programme purpose, without promising assistance before resources are confirmed.
Planning and approval
A proposed activity should have a clear budget, delivery plan, responsible staff or partners, safeguards, and a way to record what was provided. Infrastructure activities also require appropriate ownership or land checks and a maintenance plan.
Delivery and monitoring
SDC Nepal aims to keep distribution or activity records, protect personal information, receive community feedback and examine concerns. Photos and stories should only be used with appropriate consent and respect for dignity.
Reporting and learning
After delivery, the organisation reviews expenditure and available evidence, notes challenges, and uses lessons to improve future work. Donors and partners may request the relevant verified update, subject to privacy and safeguarding limits. This article explains our intended accountability process; it is not a claim that every proposed project has already been funded or completed.
